Finnish mobile services market 2005

The Ministry of transport and communications has completed its annual report of the Finnish mobile services market. Here is a quick summary for 2005:

• 2.8B SMS messages (+29%)
• 14.4M MMS messages (4 M€)
• Total value of market: 284 M€ (+16%, SMS’s account for 178 M€/+13%)
• Data services market worth 30 M€ (+43%)
• Content services worth 71 M€ (+16%)
• Monthly ARPU 27.2€ (voice) + 4.4€ (services)
• 2.5M phones with color screen (46%), 1.2M (23%) camera phones and 0.3M (6%) smartphones
• 3G penetration at 1%, the estimate for this year is 5%
